Fuchs North America Introduces the "Island Inspirations Collection" of Seasonings, Bases and Flavors

March 8, 2018 – Fuchs North America, a leading maker of seasonings, flavor systems and taste solutions for the food manufacturing, retail and foodservice industries, introduces the Island Inspirations Collection – a new line of tropical inspired seasonings, bases and flavors. The collection’s 4 vibrant and flavorful seasonings offer new twists on popular dishes and flavors from islands around the world.

Among the collection’s offerings are seasonings and blends for proteins, snacks and dairy. These items are also the starting point for food manufacturers and foodservice establishments to develop their own unique signature product offerings, with Fuchs’ culinary specialists at their side.

The New Collection

Our new Island Inspirations Collection includes the following 4 seasoning blends:

• Caribbean Style Coconut Curry Milkshake Seasoning
• Filipino Style Banana Ketchup Snack Seasoning
• Hawaiian Style BBQ Turkey Burger Seasoning
• San Juan Style Sofrito Dip Seasoning

In introducing the collection, Shannon Cushen, Fuchs’ director of marketing, explained the strategy behind the collection. “Caribbean, Filipino and Hawaiian foods and flavors have been trending recently, due to adventurous consumers with a curiosity about foods from faraway places,” she observes.

“Especially during stressful times, consumers are looking for an escape. Our newest collection will transport consumers to a tropical paradise, one bite at a time,” Cushen adds.

Fuchs helps food companies make sense of the trends and tap into where the culinary energy is strongest. In this spirit, each of the items that make up Fuchs’ Island Inspirations Collection features innovative and mouthwatering flavors that will liven up any menu item or product.

Craveable Milkshake Seasoning

Curry Milkshake36 2Elizabeth Lindemer, CEC, Fuchs’ corporate executive chef, worked to develop blends that will keep consumers coming back for more. “Our Caribbean Style Coconut Curry Milkshake Seasoning mingles sweet and savory with luscious coconut and fragrant spices, such as cardamom and ginger, for an invigorating and addicting blend that you can add to ice cream and milkshakes,” Lindemer describes.

Flavorful Snack Seasoning

Inspired by a popular Filipino condiment, we’ve joined slightly sweet banana with flavorful tomato, sweet-scented spices, aromatic garlic and a hint of vinegar for our Filipino Style Banana Ketchup Snack Seasoning, which is perfect for chips, popcorn or nuts.

Palatable Protein Seasoning

Hawaiian Burger21Hawaii serves as the inspiration behind our Hawaiian Style BBQ Turkey Burger Seasoning. “A perfect combination of sweet, tangy and smoky, we mixed tart and juicy pineapple with rich molasses, savory onion and garlic, aromatic spices, bright vinegar and just a little smoke for a sensational seasoning that’s sure to please the crowds!,” Lindemer explains.

Shareable Dip Seasoning

Not only is our San Juan Style Sofrito Dip Seasoning particularly on-trend, but it’s also quickly become a favorite at the Fuchs headquarters. According to Lindemer, “Slightly different from a sofrito that you might find in the Mediterranean or Italy, in Puerto Rico you will find that the sofrito is made with an enticing blend of roasted bell peppers, savory onion and garlic and finished with a touch of bright jalapeno and cilantro. We’ve used this as inspiration to create a seasoning to be added to sour cream for a seriously addictive dip!”

Custom Solutions, Too

According to Ken Wuestenfeld, vice president of sales and technical services, the strategy behind all of Fuchs’ offerings like the Island Inspirations Collection is to help food manufacturers and foodservice establishments create irresistible new items that build on culinary traditions, but that are also unique.

As Wuestenfeld explained, the development process is a combination of science and art. “We stay on top of consumer taste trends. Our goal is to help food companies develop new taste sensations that they can call their own – offerings that are unique and stand out.”

With each customer, Fuchs North America goes from conception to manufacturing to delivery of an approved flavor as quickly as possible. “We have a wide range of flavor bases at the ready, and, as a result, we can provide samples for immediate testing. Then we customize and refine the flavor to attain exactly the taste characteristics our customer is seeking,” Wuestenfeld reports.

Doing so means that taking a food or flavor idea from concept to delivery can often be accomplished in a matter of weeks or even less time. “Especially when under tight product development timeframes, being able to support customers with that kind of rapid schedule is a huge benefit,” Wuestenfeld emphasized.

October 17, 2017 – Fuchs North America, a leading maker of seasonings, flavor systems and taste solutions for the food manufacturing, retail and foodservice industries, introduces the South Asian Collection – a new line of distinctive seasonings, bases and flavors. The collection’s 4 vibrant and authentic seasonings offer innovative takes on popular South Asian dishes and flavors.

Among the collection’s offerings are seasonings and blends for proteins, sauces, beverages and desserts. The New Collection

Our new South Asian Collection includes the following 4 seasoning blends:

• Butter Chicken Sauce Seasoning
• Kashmiri Spiced Carrot Cake Mix
• Kerala Style Lamb Curry Seasoning
• Masala Chai Lassi Drink Mix

In introducing the collection, Shannon Cushen, Fuchs’ director of marketing, explained the strategy behind the collection. “As consumers have been becoming more adventurous eaters, there’s been an increase in demand for authentic ethnic cuisines and flavors inspired by different, exotic regions of the world. As a result, South Asian cuisine and South Asian inspired flavors have been gaining traction both in foodservice and at retail,” she observes.

Fuchs helps food companies make sense of the trends and tap into where the culinary energy is strongest. In this spirit, each of the items that make up Fuchs’ South Asian Collection features innovative and mouthwatering flavors that will liven up any menu item or product.

Butter Tacos 11Sensational Sauce Seasoning

Elizabeth Lindemer, CEC, Fuchs’ corporate executive chef, worked to develop blends that meet consumers’ high expectations of authenticity. “Butter chicken is an iconic dish with roots in the Punjabi cuisine, dating back to the 1950s. Our Butter Chicken Sauce Seasoning has a subtle balance of tanginess, sweetness, mild spiciness and richness. It’s easy to see why this is a favorite Indian dish for so many people,” Lindemer describes.

Delightful Dessert

With crisp autumn air quickly approaching, it’s time to give the grill a little break and warm up the oven. You’ll find our Kashmiri Spiced Carrot Cake Mix perfectly captures the captivating and inviting spices of the Kashmir Valley region.

Kerala Lamb 9Craveable Curry

Kerala, located in southern India, serves as the inspiration behind our Kerala Style Lamb Curry Seasoning. “Spices have always played a fundamental role in the cuisine of Kerala. Dating back thousands of years, Kerala rose to fame for its production of spices such as black pepper, cardamom and cinnamon. So, it only seemed fitting that, as a spice and seasoning company, Fuchs North America would honor Kerala with a fragrant and enchanting curry seasoning,” Lindemer explains.

Yummy Beverage

Not only is our Masala Chai Lassi Drink Mix particularly on-trend, but it’s also the perfect beverage for fall. According to Lindemer, “Lassi is a traditional yogurt-based drink that is common through the Indian subcontinent. Fuchs’ version is slightly sweet and features a subtle tanginess from nonfat Greek yogurt, paired with a hint of black tea and warming spices such as ginger and cinnamon.”

Try serving it with freshly cut veggies for a perfect summer snack or even spread it on your sandwiches and burgers,” Lindemer suggests.

Fuchs North America Holds Grand Opening Ceremony for New Headquarters Facilities

Kelly Heck Photography 6201

Kelly Heck Photography 6164June 30, 2017 — Fuchs North America, a leading maker of seasonings, flavor systems and taste solutions for the food manufacturing, retail and foodservice industries, held a grand opening ceremony for its new headquarters facilities on Friday, June 30 in Hampstead, Md.

The mid-morning ceremony was attended by more than 150 people, including Fuchs North America employees, representatives from state and local economic development agencies, elected officials and other dignitaries.

The ceremonial ribbon cutting was conducted by Dan Cooper, CEO of Fuchs North America, Nils Meyer-Pries, Global CEO of Fuchs Group (based in Germany), and Alexander Fuchs, CIO of the Fuchs Group. Official remarks were made by Cooper, Meyer-Pries and Fuchs, among others.

According to Cooper, planning for the new headquarters facility began about four years ago, as the company was successfully growing its business and reaching capacity at its Owings Mills facility. “The move to our new headquarters was driven by the need to be able to support continued growth. With this investment in our new state-of-the-art facility and equipment, we will more than double our annual capacity,” Cooper reported.

For over half a century, Fuchs North America was operated out of its headquarters offices in Owings Mills, Md. Despite several major expansions in the 1970s and again in the 1990s, the company outgrew the facility, with little ability to expand on the remaining grown.

KHeck 8628 1The new headquarters in Hampstead is situated on a 21-acre campus and increases the company’s capacity and capabilities. “Hampstead was a logical choice for our move, given its proximity to Owings Mills, as well as the good quality workforce in Carroll County,” Cooper explained.

Additionally, the new headquarters includes a number of enhanced product development functions and capabilities, most notably expanded R&D test lab facilities encompassing a microbiology lab, a quality assurance lab, plus an entirely new sensory lab along with a spacious new presentation kitchen, conducive for on-site ideation with customers.

On the manufacturing side, new or expanded capabilities include mix manufacturing, spice milling and sterilization technologies, as well as packaging and warehousing featuring the latest stock picking and inventory management technologies.

Construction of Fuchs North America’s new headquarters facility was completed in late 2016.
